About MASKA

MASKA specializes in contemporary and wearable pieces that balance modern functionality with artisanal longevity, combining authentic Scandinavian design principles with four generations of textile craftsmanship. Each item is thoughtfully created with the utmost care and attention to detail, skimming the body with a flattering yet comfortable fit for everyday wear, using only the finest natural materials.

Deriving its name from 'knitted stitch', MASKA's roots go back to Sweden’s textile region of Borås. Here the brand's founder, Maria Svensson, would spend her days at her great-grandmother's sewing factory. Learning firsthand about the art of slowly made, sustainable clothing, she developed a deep appreciation for the feel and possibilities of exquisite fabrics, watching them come to life in a way that would later inspire the creation of her own design house.

MASKA's creations are guided by the pillars of craft, durability and elegant versatility, reflecting Maria's sophisticated understanding of what it means to wear clothes that work in harmony with the demands of modern living. Through elaborate structures, considered shapes, and subtle details, each collection goes beyond aesthetics, performing as a second skin that effortlessly doubles as a means of self-expression.

Today, MASKA is an established slow luxury brand that continues to pioneer in its space while staying true to its unique textile tradition. It remains an independent, family-owned business with a coveted presence in over 70 stores across the world.

Since 2023, MASKA’s designs have been in the hands of Paris-based designer, Tove Johansson. Having honed her artistry at Maison Kitsuné and Christian Lacroix, her signature aesthetic creatively aligns with the brand’s creative ethos. The team is deeply committed to responsible sourcing and ethical production practices. It works closely with family-owned businesses across the EU, in countries such as Italy, Portugal, Lithuania and Bulgaria, as well as certified suppliers in Nepal and India for the finest cashmere, silk and cotton. To promote circularity and reduce waste, MASKA has implemented a dedicated recycling and repair service. This encourages mindful consumption and a conscious appreciation for the enduring beauty of its creations.
